Time is finally on my side

August 13, 2011

For a long time, ages really, I was one of these babies who is out if time. Although in contrast to the baby in the Stones number I was out of it by choice. Some years ago (is it really that many?) when CD’s was hitting it big with the general public I choose to sell of my entire collection (it’s was that big, perhaps a couple of hundred items) and opt for an all analog music collection. Vinyl was and still is to me and all my senses the ultimate format for music. But back in those days when the compact discs were all the rage times were rough. Sort of rough least, there not much new music being released on LP, not on the major labels in any case. The independent labels kept the firing burning and a lot of people were selling off their vinyl collections to buy the very same albums once more but on thin sounding little plastic pieces in ugly little plastic boxes this time. So you cop some great albums for pocket change every now and again. But since not many people bought new turntable the prices on those rose significantly as the manufacturers still needed to make money. I felt a little out of time. These days I still is somewhere on the side or curb of main time as kids these days do not buy or collect albums. They listen to it online. I still feel the need to hold something in my hand to complete the experience while listening to music though. Luckily there are still options for conservative minded weirdoes like me. I track down actual albums, on vinyl of course, through online auctions. And since there are so many of them with sellers from all over the world I can pretty much everything imaginable. It’s seems I still got a little time by side.
